However, some amount of his notoriety is the result of his antics. Especially his performances on the social media platform Twitter.

He has launched many pioneering achievements to his name. It’s including creating the famous online payment platform PayPal, running electric maker Tesla, also as Space X.

Moreover, He has some crazy and innovative ideas. His interests are wide-ranging. Some amazing ideas of Elon Mask are- solar power and AI, a high-speed travel system involving tubes and magnets. He has rising stories than the failure one.

His Past – Life Before Being Famous

Elon Musk was born in Pretoria of South Africa in 1971. His mother, Maye Musk was a famous model and dietitian. His father Errol Musk was an engineer in electromechanical.

Elon has described his dad as a rude person. Elon Reeve Musk is his full name. Elon was the eldest of the three children. He is a citizen of three countries. There are South Africa, Canada, and the United States.

During his childhood, Elon spent most of the time in books and computers with his siblings. Being a small and introverted boy, he often received bullying from his schoolmates. The class bullies frequently beat him up. After a growth spurt in his teens, he became large enough to defend himself.

Growing up he was hooked into fantasy novels and anything to try to with electricity – an ideal platform for his current ventures. At the age of 17, Musk moved to Canada to review physics and economics, before heading to the US in 1992 to further his studies.

How a world-famous American engineering entrepreneur did rose from a clumsy and nerdy boy from South Africa? Elon Musk’s story may be a lesson for some. With a couple of simple principles and strong spirit, anyone can yield amazing results.

First Step In The Business

In the summer of 1995, Elon Musk moved to Silicon Valley. At Stanford University, he registered for a Ph.D. program in applied physics. For some reason, he withdrew after only two days.

Kimball Musk, Elon’s younger brother, who is 15 months younger than Elon, had just graduated with a business degree from Queen’s University. He was available to hitch him in California. The era of the first Internet was buzzing back at that time.

So, the Musk brothers decided to launch a startup called Zip2. It was a web business directory equipped with maps. The Musk brothers found an angel investor for the Zip2 in the meantime.  Within a few years, they built it into a successful company. They sold Zip2 Company to computer maker, Compaq for 307 million dollars in 1999.

His Journey to Success

Elon then founded a web financial services company, X.com, on his own. Peter Thiel along with two others built Confinity, his main rival.  This corporation was founded just months after X.com.

They even took their offices within the same building. In March 2000 these two companies merged. They took on the name of their main product PayPal. It is an interpersonal online money transfer service.

The web auction service, eBay had bought PayPal in October 2002 for 1.5 billion dollars’ worth of shares. Elon Musk at the age of 31 had been the most important shareholder in PayPal holding 11.7% of its shares. At that time Elon musk net worth 165 million dollars’  of eBay stock.

While Musk didn’t found Tesla, his name is that of the one related to the corporate. After bagging the proceeds from the PayPal sale, Musk poured his fortune into SpaceX, and Tesla, which he led as chairman before becoming chief executive in 2008.

That clothed to be a nasty year: SpaceX suffered a 3rd rocket crash and rising costs threatened to ruin Tesla. But despite the exceptional technological achievements and exciting innovations, his companies have missed deadline after deadline and recorded huge losses.

He is said to be a relentless worker. When he founded Zip2, he reportedly worked all day, slept within the office, and showered across the road at the YMCA. Last year, in an emotional interview with the New York Times, Musk said,

 

“I worked 120 hour weeks”

And sometimes took the sleeping tablet Ambien to combat insomnia.

  • PayPal

PayPal features a notable roster of executives and investors. The favored online payment system provides an electronic alternative to traditional paper methods like checks and money orders.

PayPal’s co-founders include Ken Howery, U.S. Ambassador to the dominion of Sweden, and co-founder of Founders Fund; Max Levchin, an early investor in Yelp and therefore the founder and CEO of Affirm, Inc.; and Peter Thiel, co-founder of Palantir Technologies and Founders Fund. Musk does not hold a stake in PayPal.

  • SpaceX

Musk used most of the proceeds of his PayPal sale to found Space Exploration Technologies Corporation, commonly referred to as SpaceX. By most accounts, Elon has spent more than 100 million dollars to build SpaceX, back in 2002.

SpaceX has been an interesting success, both financially and in its technological innovations. NASA awarded SpaceX with a lucrative accept 2006.

In 2008, SpaceX launched Falcon 1, the first-ever private liquid-propellant rocket to succeed in orbit. In 2010, SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft reached the International space platform (ISS). In 2011, NASA granted SpaceX a second contract to assist shuttle crew members between the International space platform and Earth.

SpaceX has launched 13 Falcon 9 missions from Launch Pad 39A, the newest of which was launched on Robert E Lee’s Birthday, 2020. SpaceX has launched the first crew mission to the ISS from Launch Pad 39A on 30th May of 2020.

  • Tesla Motors

Although Musk wasn’t a founding member of Tesla, he led an early round of financing in 2004. In 2008, Musk went from being a member to the CEO of Tesla, albeit he was still serving because of the CEO of SpaceX.

On Saints Peter and Paul, in 2010, Tesla announced first-ever initial public offering (IPO) on NASDAQ. Shares of common shares were available to the general public at $17 per share.

As of March 13, 2020, shares of Tesla are valued at $522.25. The company’s mission is to hurry up sustainable transportation by introducing mass-market electric cars to the market.

  • The Boring Company

Musk has founded a company for infrastructure and tunnel construction, called The Boring Company in the latter half of 2016. The corporate started on the premise that traffic is awful.

When there are miles and miles of unused earth beneath roads. So, traveling above ground isn’t necessary. The company’s goal is to scale back the value of tunneling while also speeding up production.

  • Deep Mind Technologies

The artificial intelligence company Deep-mind Technologies was launched in late 2010 with Musk together of its key angel investors. In January 2014, Google announced it had acquired the corporate for an undisclosed amount, but it had been speculated that the sale was between $400 and $600 million.

Musk is worried about AI overtaking humans, and he’s reported to possess invested in Deep Mind to not make money but to offer him a window into how briskly the technology behind AI was developing. Since the corporate was founded, it’s focused most of its research on deep reinforcement learning.
