Google Acquires Mandiant in $5.4 billion Deal 

In a deal estimated at over $5.4 billion, Google LLC will purchase cyber security business Mandiant, Inc., bringing Google speed and scale to Mandiant’s unrivaled intelligence and expertise at a time when security has never been more critical. Mandiant will be bought by Google for $23 per share in an all-cash transaction later this year, according to the terms of the official agreement.

Mandiant will join Google Cloud once the deal is completed. Google Cloud puts cloud-native security into the core of its technology to fight malware, phishing attempts, and potential cyber-assaults at scale, with security as the cornerstone of its commitment to clients and users throughout the world.

Thomas Kurian, chief executive of Google Cloud, stated,

He also added,

“This is an opportunity to deliver an end-to-end security operations suite and extend one of the best consulting organizations in the world.” 

Furthermore, Google Cloud’s acquisition of Mandiant demonstrates the company’s commitment to improving its security services in order to better protect and advise customers across on-premise and cloud settings, ensuring that they are protected at all stages of the security lifecycle.

Mandiant, which was founded in 2004, now has over 600 specialists that respond to thousands of security incidents each year. These ideas, together with research from more than 300 intelligence analysts, are what drive Mandiant’s cyber defense solutions.

The deal is subject to standard closing conditions, including stockholder and regulatory clearances from Mandiant.
