Bumble’s Founder Whitney Wolfe Herd Becomes Rare Female Billionaire

Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Whitney Wolfe Herd, 31-year-old female founder of Bumble Inc., became a billionaire when Shares of Bumble Inc., soared.

On last Thursday at 01:03 pm in New York, Bumble Inc the dating app’s shares soared 67 percent to debut at USD 72 on the Nasdaq, taking Whitney’s stake at USD 1.6 billion.

The CEO told Bloomberg after stamping her name in the billionaire list, “Hopefully this will not be a rare headline,”

She left Tinder in 2014 and sued the co-founders of the company over sexual harassment. The split from tinder happened when Whitney filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the company. She alleged that she was repeatedly called derogatory names by executives and stripped of her co-founder role since having a “girl” with that title “makes the company seem like a joke.”

Though Tinder denied all the allegations but paid her nearly USD 1 million to settle the issue.

Bumble Inc, is an unique dating app where women make the first move. She initially wanted to create a female-only social network for women where women can send each other compliments but finally became the founder of a match-making app.

“It’s the right thing to do, it’s a priority for us and it should be a priority for everyone else,” she said of the company’s unique women-led management.
