Surge, Sequoia Capital India’s rapid scale-up program, has invested $2 million in the online educational platform 10 Minute School to enhance investment in product and technology. This makes Robi 10 minutes school the first EdTech firm in Bangladesh to receive money.
10 minute school gets $2m seed funding from investors
Sequoia Capital India is an early-stage venture capital firm that invests in technology, healthcare, and other industries.
10 Minute School, which was co-founded by Ayman Sadiq and Abdullah Abyad Raied in 2015, In a statement, declared that it’s on a quest to promote education for all Bangladeshis.
The platform, which now boasts over 25,000 classes and skills courses, plans to introduce live coaching sessions for kids in grades V through XII, as well as test paper courses for HSC and SSC examinees.
During the first quarter of 2022, it plans to provide comprehensive entrance and BCS programs, as well as a series of engaging academic papers for grades III to XII and 25 more demanded training and skill development courses.
The 10 Minute School sees a huge chance to complement the country’s existing education system, which now has 43 million pupils. The company also aims at contributing to the skill enhancement of the country’s 5 million-strong young population, resulting in more jobs and demographic benefits.
Ayman Sadiq, the founder, and CEO of 10 Minute School stated in an interview,
“Logistics and fintech have so far attracted global investors. But, I think 2022 will be the year for online education platforms as the pandemic has proved the importance of online education, We have experienced an unprecedented twelvefold business growth in our platform in 2021 during the pandemic. And the number of our employees now stands at 300, up from 60 at the end of 2020.”
The CEO also stated,
“Sequoia Capital India’s Surge joining us as our first investor is a very humbling experience for the team, and it further validates our vision for democratizing access to high-quality education for all in Bangladesh. We want to double down on our growth trajectory this year while creating an unparalleled learning experience for our students.”
Last year, 10 Minute School had a breakthrough year, with over 9 million new participants joining the platform, 8 million learning hours supplied, more than 17,000 new videos uploaded to its learning environment. The software just topped 3 million users, making it the country’s most popular learning app.
